What is Enfant-Vedette?
Dear Parents,
Your child will be participating in a special classroom project called « Enfant Vedette » in which one child is the « star » of the class for a period of one week.
The project will allow your child :
· To be the featured student of the week so his/her peers will get to know his/her life outside of the classroom setting
· To present his/her family environment, culture, and traditions.
· To share share his/her favourite toys, food, music, memories, books and special moments
· To gain self-confidence, self-esteem and be comfortable speaking in front of his/her peers.
This program also provides a window through which the parents can share special moments in their child’s kindergarten day.
Please decide with your child what he/she would like to share with the class. Your child can show drawings, photos, memorabilia, or anything else that will be of interest to the others. Please keep the information and presentation at your child’s level : simple and clear.
During the week, the children will present a part of their lives to the rest of their classmates at the begining of our day.
He/she can choose to bring in one of his/her treasures for each day of his/her Enfant Vedette week.
Here are some suggestions :
1. Family portraits, photo album, family pictures of special times can be place on a Bristol board that is kept in call for the week.
2. Bring in his/her favourite toy, game, toutou, video, art work, collection, baby clothing, music cassette, favourite story book etc.
3. Talk about the sports he/she participates in, show us the uniform he/she wears, demonstrate examples of dance moves or ballet moves learned.
4. Give us a sample of his/her musical ability on an instrument he/she is learning to play.
5. Anything else you can come up with as a family.
Adult participation, family member or aquaintances are not only welcome but greatly encouraged.
Some ideas :
· Lead a workshop (prepare an art activity, face make-up, kindercooking, seed planting, building or making things, craft, origami, dance moves etc.
· Animate an activity or a game.
· Tell us about your country of origin, culture and traditions.
· Talk about your job or hobby, bring in visuals for presentation
· Share a special memory, initiate a discussion
· Read your child’s favourite story book.
· Presemt a videocassette or DVD of a memorable moment in your child’s life.
· Bring in your child’s favourite snack to share
· Surprise the children with something special.\
* It’s important that your child has something to present and is able to talk about each day.
Pleae communicate with me via the agenda or a letter, at least one week before your child’s « Enfant Vedette » week, so that we can fix a time together that will respect the classroom schedule as well as give me ample time to book the appropriate A.V. equipment if needed.
